Episode 75: Countdown Bin Laden

Our guest this week is Fox News Host Chris Wallace, author of Countdown Bin Laden:  The Untold Story of the 247-Day Hunt to Bring the Mastermind of 9/11 to Justice.  Here are some other titles to look at:

Spec Ops: Case Studies in Special Operations Warfare: Theory and Practice, by William H. McRaven

As the man who commanded the raid, McRaven was known as a specialist on covert operations and someone who had spent a good deal of his time thinking about, considering and planning such operations. It may be a bit dry at points, but this is his book on special ops and you can see some of his thinking and expertise in this book.
The Operator: Firing the Shots that Killed Osama Bin Laden and My Years as.a SEAL Team Leader,  Robert O’Neill
First-person account by one of the principal participants in the raid and someone Wallace refers to extensively in the book.
The Rise and Fall of Al-Qaeda, Gerges Fawaz
Good history of Al-Qaeda. Necessary if you want to understand the background of the organization and the how and why of its organization, operations and effectiveness.
Bush at War and Obama’s Wars, Bob Woodward
Together these two books give superb accounts of America’s “forever wars” of the 21st century.
