History Happy Hour Episode 106: Down by the Sea in Books

Guests: Admiral James Stavridis

The Sailors Bookshelf

This Week on History Happy Hour: Rick and Chris talk to the former Supreme Commander of NATO…about books! Admiral James Stavridis shares his love of the sea and some of the sources of that affection in a new book, The Sailor’s Bookshelf.

He looks at fifty books that illustrate the history, importance, lore, and lifestyle of the oceans and of those who "go down to the sea in ships." He also throws in a few of his own sea stories.

What are some of your favorite books about the sea, fiction or non-fiction? Join us Sunday at 4 PM ET to talk about them on History Happy Hour, where history is always on tap.
